LF Brandon Boggs (.253) went 0-for-1. CF Marlon Byrd(.241) was 0-for-2 with a walk and a strikeout. David Newhan(.250) struck out as a pinch-hitter. Eric Patterson (.243) struck out as a pinch-hitter. 1BMark Teixeira (.272) went 0-for-4 including an RBIgroundout. PH/C Jason Varitek (.220) struck out twice.

CF Charlie Blackmon (.275) went 1-for-5 with a double and astrikeout. SS Nomar Garciaparra (.353) was 2-for-3 with astrikeout as he continued his rehab assignment with Class AAA LasVegas. See story. Hodges has been selected to the U.S. squad for theFutures Game on July 13 at Yankee Stadium. 2B Richard Lewis(.276) was 2-for-5 with a double, two RBI and a strikeout. RFDanny Payne (.308) was 2-for-3 with a walk, a stolen baseand two RBI. PH Jason Perry went 0-for-1. RF Jeremy Slayden (.299) extended his hitting streak to ninegames while going 1-for-2 with a two-run homer.
