Lakeside, Calif. – All-American James White and freshman Ollie Schniederjans each shot 4-under-par 68 Friday, leading 9th-ranked Georgia Tech to a final round 12-under-par score and a fourth-place finish at the Barona Collegiate Cup.

Richard Werenski contributed a 69, Bo Andrews a 71 and Seth Reeves a 72 Friday for the Yellow Jackets’ five counting scores, as Tech completed 54 holes at 14-under-par 1,066.

Host San Diego State, the nation’s 12th-ranked team, held its 36-hole lead with a 7-under-par score Friday and finished the tournament at 29-under-par 1,051, five shots clear of 10th-ranked Southern California (-24). North Texas finished third (-20) in the 16-team field. First-round leader Kent State (-13) dropped back to fifth place, one stroke behind Tech.

“The guys did a nice job of finishing the round today,” said head coach Bruce Heppler. “We talked about being hard to discourage at dinner last night, and they really played to the end of their rounds. Overall, I think the trip was very positive and the guys learned a lot. Hopefully the experience out here will pay dividends as we move into the end of the year.”

Freshman Anders Albertson shot a 73 Friday and did not count for Tech, but was the Yellow Jackets highest finisher, placing solo 13th at 7-under 209. Andrews and Schniederjans tied for 22nd place at 2-under 214, while White tied for 27th at 1-under 215.

Werenski (2-over 218) tied for 38th and Reeves (3-over 219) tied for 41st among 107 indiviuduals.

Tech is off until the first week of April when it competes in the Gary Koch Invitational in Tampa, Fla.
