Yellow Jackets Defeat No. 20 Clemson, 4-3

Clemson, S.C. – The Georgia Tech men’s tennis team defeated No. 20 Clemson, 4-3, Wednesday at the Hoke Sloan Tennis Center on the Clemson University campus for their first road win of the season.

The Jackets dropped the doubles point with only George Gvelesiani and Jordan DeLass earning a doubles win but, quickly rebounded when Jose Muguruza earned a point with his 6-4, 6-3 win over Clement Reix in the first singles spot. Jordan DeLass added another point for Tech in the second singles spot defeating Jarmaine Jenkins, 6-7, 7-5, 6-4.

The Tigers regained their lead, 3-2, when Ryan Young defeated Eric Molnar, 6-4, 6-3, in the third singles spot and Rok Bizjak downed Zach Rath, 7-6, 7-6, in the fourth spot.

Luke Rassow-Kantor stormed back after dropping the first set, 2-6, to defeat Carlos Alvarez, 6-3, 7-6, and then Scott Blackmon defeated Kevin Fleck in straight sets giving Tech four points and the win.

With the win, the Jackets improve to 5-5 and are undefeated in two Atlantic Coast Conference tests.

The Jackets return to action Friday, March 9 at 2:30 p.m. at the Bill Moore Tennis Center on Georgia Tech’s campus to face Furman. Admission to all Georgia Tech home matches is free.
