Women’s Tennis Earns No. 8 Seed in ACC Championship

THE FLATS – The 33rd-ranked Georgia Tech women’s tennis team earned the No. 8 seed in the 2019 ACC Championship in Cary, N.C. The tournament runs April 17-21 at the Cary Tennis Park. The Yellow Jackets will open the tournament on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. facing ninth-seeded Syracuse.

Tech (12-11, 7-7 ACC) owns a 28-26 overall record when competing in the ACC Championship dating back to 1986. The Jackets have won four ACC Tournament titles in program history – 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2010. Last season, the Jackets advanced to the semifinals after defeating Syracuse in the quarterfinals before falling to third-seeded North Carolina, 4-3, in the semifinal round.

The final two days of the tournament, semifinals and championship match, will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra. The semifinal matches on Saturday are both set to serve at 2 p.m. with the championship match on Sunday also slated for a 2 p.m. first serve.

CHAMPIONSHIP CENTRAL: Fans can find complete information on the tournament via the championship central page. North Carolina secured the top seed, followed by No. 2 Duke, third-seeded Florida State and fourth-seeded NC State.
