Georgia Tech is back on the road, opening a two-game road swing at Louisville on Thursday. The Yellow Jackets, who will play four of its first five ACC games on the road, seek their first conference win of the season, coming off a difficult loss to Florida State to open 2023. Freshman Inés Noguero was the only Jacket to post double-figures against the Seminoles, contributing a personal-high 16 points, connecting on a career-best four three-pointers. Kayla Blackshear was just shy of a double-double, finishing with nine rebounds and eight points.
Louisville comes into Thursday’s matchup off a loss at Duke to snap a six-game win streak. The Cardinals fell, 63-56, in Cameron Indoor Stadium despite Hailey Van Lith dropping a team-high 23 points. Van Lith leads the squad on the season, averaging 20.3 points per game, and ranks second in the league in scoring. Olivia Cochran owns a team-best 7.1 rebounds per game average.
Louisville leads the all-time series against Georgia Tech, 9-0, after collecting a narrow 50-48 victory in McCamish Pavilion last season. Georgia Tech led by five entering the final period, but Louisville rallied for the win.
Competitive Drive Initiative
In a unified endeavor, Georgia Tech, the Georgia Tech Foundation, Georgia Tech athletics and the Alexander-Tharpe Fund have come together to accelerate funding for student-athlete scholarships with the launch of the Competitive Drive Initiative. The initiative met its initial fundraising goal of $2.5 million in less than six weeks and has extended its target to $3.5 million raised by Dec. 31. Any new gift to the A-T Fund’s Athletic Scholarship Fund made through Dec. 31 will be matched dollar-for-dollar by the Georgia Tech Foundation, meaning that if the $3.5 million fundraising goal is met, the matching gift would result in a $7 million impact for Georgia Tech athletics.
