THE FLATS – Georgia Tech cross country recorded a 10th-place finish in the women’s 6K and an 11th-place finish in the men’s 8K race on Friday at the 2022 ACC Championships. The women’s team finished with 240 points which was 14 points behind a ninth place Wake Forest. The men totaled 319 points and were 27 points behind the Pitt, who finished in 10th place.
Helena Lindsay was the top performer in the women’s group and had the best placement out of all Tech runners. Lindsay finished in 24th place with a time of 20:21.0, nearly missing the cut off for All-ACC recognition. Liz Galarza followed behind Lindsay in 32nd place, running a 6K time of 20:28.6.
James Cragin was the first Jacket to cross the finish line for the men, placing 45th with a time of 23:51.5. John Higinbotham came in just four places behind Cragin, finishing 49th with a time of 23:59.5.
Kate Jortberg was the third-best performer in the women’s 6K race, recording a time of 20:39.1 and finishing in 41st place. Tech’s other scorers included Mary Brady (21:30.0) who came in 71st, Mary Kathryn Knott (21:31.0) who followed in 72nd, Katy Earwood (21:38.1) who finished 73rd and Kayla Rose in 77th place (21:49.8).
Zach Jaeger was the next Jacket to come across the finish line for the men, finishing 73rd with a time of 24:46.0. Four more Jackets scored for the men’s team. Joshua Williams came in 75th (24:50.0), Chris Cherono followed in 77th (24:55.0), Nick Nyman concluded the race in 78th (24:56.2) and Charlie Smith finished in 81st place (25:05.3).
