TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (Sept. 17) — Behind a season-high 14 aces, including a career-high six from sophomore Alexis Moran (Orinda, Calif.), the Georgia Tech (8-3) volleyball team defeated the Air Force Academy (7-2) by the scores of 15-2, 15-3, 15-11 in their second match of the Crimson Tide Classic.
The Yellow Jackets were in control the entire match behind the hitting of Maja Pachale (Schwerin, Germany) who compiled 11 kills and hit an impressive .471 while also adding five service aces and six digs. Teryl Townsend (Alexandria, Minn.) returned to offensive form as she talled six kills while hitting .400 and collecting two blocks.
The Jacket defense was impressive in the match as the Falcons hit as a team .000 and only collected 24 kills in the match.
Carolyn Clevenger (Oakland, Calif.) and Courtney Adler (Longmont, Colo.) shared time at the setting position as Clevenger collected 16 assists and Adler tallied seven.
The Yellow Jackets improved to 2-0 in the Crimson Tide Classic with two matches to be played Saturday. The first match will be against Belmont University at 1 p.m. followed by a 7:30 p.m. match-up against host University of Alabama.
