Lynnette Moster recorded 29 kills and 15 digs while hitting .339 as the Georgia Tech volleyball team defeated Virginia 3-1 (30-19, 30-25, 29-31, 30-28) Friday in front 1,198 fans. With the win, the Yellow Jackets have now won 10 consecutive matches and improve to 12-5, 7-0 ACC while the Cavaliers fall to 13-6, 3-4 ACC.
Tech outhit the Cavaliers .249 to .154 while recording a season high 79 kills in the match. Defensively, Tech recorded a season high 92 digs to the Cavaliers’ 58. At the net, the Jackets posted 15 blocks while Virginia only managed 12.
Lindsey Laband spread the offense around, posting 63 assists in the game. In addition to Moster, Lauren Sauer recorded 20 kills, followed by Jayme Gergen who had 13 and Laura Kuhn who had six.
Defensively, Marisa Aston had a team-high 23 digs on the night followed by Lindsey Laband who had a career high 17 digs Jennifer Randall who had 13.
At the net, Sauer had eight total blocks, while Moster and Gergen each added five blocks.
The Cavaliers were led by Lindsey Osco and Sarah Kirkwood who each had 18 kills and Alexis Geocaris who chipped in 12. Defensively, Melissa Caldwell had a match high 24 digs.
The Yellow Jackets will return to action Saturday when they host Maryland in O’Keefe Gymnasium at 7 p.m.
