Volleyball Adds Gabriela Stavnetchei For 2014

July 16, 2014

THE FLATS – The Georgia Tech volleyball team signed another addition to the 2014 roster in 5-10, outside hitter Gabriela Stavnetchei of Curitiba, Brazil, head coach Michelle Collier announced Wednesday.

“We are thrilled to have Gabi join our program,” Collier said. “She will be a wonderful representative of Georgia Tech on and off the court.

“Gabi is a well-rounded player who has great ball control skills. The fact that she has been playing volleyball for a very long time and at a very high level will be an immediate impact in the gym for us. We look forward to her future here at Tech.”

Stavnetchei played two years with the AABB club in Brazil under head coach Renato Back and played in 2013-14 under the name of her high school Francisco Mazzola in Nova Trento, Brazil.

Stavnetchei was selected to the Youth National Training Team in 2013. While at Francisco Mazzola, she finished second in the State Championships and was crowned National Champion in 2013.

She joins Annika Olsen (5-8, DS/Libero), Ashley Askin (6-1, outside hitter) and Sydney Wilson (6-2, middle blocker) as the newest Georgia Tech volleyball members this fall.
