Track & Field to Host Georgia Tech Invite

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech track and field returns to the Flats this weekend as the program prepares to hosts its second home meet of the outdoor season. The Georgia Tech Invite will take place on Friday, April 21 and Saturday, April 22.

Competition on Friday will begin at 12:30 p.m. with the men’s and women’s hammer throw. The meet will pick back up on Saturday at 12 p.m. with the remaining field events.

The team will also recognize the 16 members of its 2023 senior class at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, prior to the first running event. The senior class includes Onyinye Chukka, James Cragin, Reese Crawford, Liz Galarza, Jamir Gibson, Taylor Grimes, Brian Hauch, Lee Keil, Mary Kathryn Knott, Matthew Mazzacano, Harrison Morris, Attallah Smith, Ilene Soleyn, Ronan Sullivan, McKinley Thompson and Joshua Williams.

Tech previously hosted a home meet when it opened the outdoor season with its Yellow Jacket Invite.

In the most recent USTFCCCA South Region rankings, the men’s team is No. 15 and the women are No. 18. Tech has five Jackets ranked in the top 50 for their respective events.

MEN: Cameron O’Neal (Long Jump, 13th), John Watkins (Triple Jump, 34th), Jamir Gibson (Shot Put, 41st & Discus, 28th)
