Georgia Tech seniors Keyaron Fox, Hugh Reilly and Daryl Smith have been chosen to play in post-season all-star games in January.
That trio has led the Yellow Jackets (6-6, 4-4 ACC) to a bowl game for the seventh consecutive year, a school record. Tech faces Tulsa in the Jan. 3 Humanitarian Bowl in Boise, Idaho.
Fox, a linebacker from Atlanta, will play in the Senior Bowl, Jan. 24 at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile, Ala.
Smith, a linebacker from Albany, Ga., has been chosen for the East-West Shrine Game, Jan. 10 at Pac Bell Park in San Francisco, Calif. He will play for the East squad that will be coached by LSU’s Nick Saban.
Fox and Smith are the key players on a Rambling Wreck defense that has performed very well this season. The ACC’s leading tackler with 150, Fox is a first-team all-ACC selection as well as a second-team all-America.
Smith, an honorable mention all-ACC selection, is Tech’s second-leading tackler with 122, including 14 tackles for loss.
Reilly, Tech’s all-ACC center from Roswell, Ga., will participate in the Hula Bowl Maui, Jan. 17 in Hawaii. The Hula Bowl Maui teams will be coached by Maryland head coach Ralph Friedgen and Ohio State head coach Jim Tressel.
A finalist for the Dave Rimington Trophy, the 6-4, 285-pound Reilly, paved the way for all-ACC tailback P.J. Daniels to gain 1,140 yards rushing.
