Three Jackets Garner All-ACC Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Georgia Tech softball standouts Tricia Awald, Emma Kauf and Auburn Dupree have each been named to All-ACC teams, the league office announced on Wednesday. Kauf and Awald were both named First Team All-ACC for the second consecutive season while Dupree landed on the ACC All-Freshman Team.

Awald adds her second First Team All-ACC honor to her decorated career as she already became the Yellow Jackets’ program leader in both career doubles (55) and career walks (166) this season. Along those lines, she’s also currently third in Georgia Tech history in walks through a single season (49). The Marietta, Ga., native has stacked up against the nation’s best at the dish to receive the recent honor, leading the country in walks per game (.96) while topping the conference and ranking fourth in the nation in on-base percentage (.579). Awald is also among the ACC’s top 10 in batting average (.397) and slugging percentage (.702) on the year. She leads the team in each of the aforementioned categories as well as home runs (8) and RBI (39). Over the course of the season, the esteemed first baseman has been a near guarantee to get on base as she’s reached in 47 of the Yellow Jackets’ 51 games.

Kauf has now earned the ACC’s highest honors in each of her opportunities as she receives First Team All-ACC recognition for the second time in her career. The Lincoln, Neb., native has joined Awald in making program history this season as she’s currently second all-time in single-season doubles (22), which also fronts the ACC and is second in the NCAA. Kauf also put together the best week in the conference earlier this season, earning ACC Player of the Week for a near flawless performance in the White and Gold’s series against NC State. Other notable numbers for the league’s top catcher include placing second in the conference in hits (66) while ranking third in the league in total bases (110), leading the squad in both.

Dupree has burst onto the scene in her first collegiate season, leading the first-years on The Flats to earn ACC All-Freshman team honors. The Gadsden, Ala., native has put together top five numbers on the squad to do so, making the mark in batting average (.333), hits (30), runs scored (24) and on-base percentage (.388). Dupree has namely been a weapon on the base path, tying for the team lead with 17 stolen bases while ranking sixth in the league in stolen bases per game (.39). In the outfield, the speedster has exuded her range, covering her territory for a flawless fielding percentage.

With three total honors as a team, Georgia Tech has earned three or more selections to All-ACC teams for four consecutive seasons under coach Aileen Morales.
