Tech's Uzzi Named Third Team All-American

Dec. 12, 2011

ATLANTA — Georgia Tech junior guard Omoregie Uzzi was named third-team All-American by Rivals.com.

Uzzi, who earlier was named first team All-ACC and was on the watch list for the Outland Trophy, has helped the Yellow Jacket offense lead the ACC in rushing offense, scoring offense and total offense. Tech ranks third nationally in rushing.

The entire Rivals All-American team can be found here.

Uzzi is the first Yellow Jacket to earn first-, second- or third-team All-American honors since 2009 when Cord Howard, Derrick Morgan and Demaryius Thomas were all selected.

Uzzi is the third Tech offensive lineman to earn All-American honors since 2000. Chris Brown was a first-team selection in 2000, Cord Howard a second-team selection in ’09. Uzzi is the only ACC offensive lineman to earn All-American honors by Rivals.
