Tech Sinks Lady Buccaneers, 103-65

ATLANTA (Dec. 7) — Senior Danielle Donehew scored a season-high 20 points, and sophomore Milli Martinez matched her career-high with 17 as Georgia Tech cruised past Charleston Southern, 103-65, in women’s basketball action Tuesday night at Alexander Memorial Coliseum at McDonald’s Center.

Five Tech players finished with double figures in scoring as Amy Lingenfelder came off the bench to pour in a career-high 13, while Nina Brlin and Candice McCallum added 12 each. Tech freshman Sonja Mallory finished with career-high 12 rebounds.

The Jackets (5-1) forced the Lady Buccaneers (3-5) into 25 turnovers, which Tech converted into 28 points. Tech also outscored Charleston Southern 48-24 in the paint.

All but two of Donehew’s team-high 20 points came from behind the three-point line as she connected on six shots from long range to help Tech break the century mark.

The Jackets led by 19 at halftime and built their largest lead of 39 by the midway point of the second half.

Senior Joy Taylor led the Lady Bucs with a game-high 21 points. Sophomore Ann Murden finished with 16, and senior Jennifer Shevenock added 11.

Georgia Tech returns to action at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Jackets take on 25th-ranked Mississippi State at home in a game that can seen live on FOX Sports Net South.
