ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech men’s tennis team will open its spring schedule on Friday by competing in a pair of events over the course of the weekend. Included in the tournaments is the ACC Men’s Tennis Indoor Championships in Winston-Salem, N.C.
The Yellow Jackets will join five other teams from the Atlantic Coast Conference in the event, which will be hosted by Wake Forest at its Indoor Tennis Center. Play will begin on Friday with two rounds of singles play and two rounds of doubles competition.
Five of the six teams in the event are ranked in the recently-released Intercollegiate Tennis Association preseason poll, including Tech (No. 44), Duke (No. 11), Florida State (No. 50), North Carolina (No. 26) and Wake Forest (No. 23).
Among the Jackets that will be part of the field will be junior Joao Menano, who is the defending singles champion in the event after defeating North Carolina’s Andy Metzler a year ago.
Georgia Tech senior standout Roger Anderson will be away from the rest of the team this week, as he will be competing in a USTA Men’s Pro Circuit Futures Tournament in Kissimmee, Fla. Anderson is ranked 21st among singles players in the preseason ITA poll.
