ATLANTA – Georgia Tech swimming and diving hosts Florida State, Maryland and Virginia Tech for an Atlantic Coast Conference Quad Meet this Friday and Saturday in the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center. The meet is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. on Friday and Noon on Saturday.
The men’s swimming and diving team dropped its first two dual meets to nationally-ranked Georgia and Tennessee. Tech fell to the 12th-ranked Volunteers, 129-112, on Thursday, Oct. 21, and 168-121, to sixth-ranked Bulldogs. Sophomore Ryan Bishop led the way for the Jackets with a first-place finish in the 200 breaststroke and second-place finishes in the 100 breast and 200 individual medley for the week.
The women’s swimming and diving team dropped its season opener at No. 2 Georgia, 164-119. Freshman Elizabeth Stowe set a new Tech record in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:06.92 to finish fourth and posted a time of 4:58.66 in the 500 free against the Bulldogs.
Freshmen Stephanie England and Evan Stowers led the Tech divers in week one of the season. Stowers tallied a NCAA Zone qualifying mark on the three-meter springboard against the Vols with a score of 347.10. England finished second on the one- and three-meter boards for the Rambling Wreck against UGA with scores of 252.34 and 260.85, respectively.
