Tech Drops 12-8 Decision to Troy

Box Score (.pdf)

THE FLATS – Kevin Parada would launch his 20th and 21st home runs of the season, including the three-run, seventh-inning blast to tie the game, but a six-run ninth inning by Troy was too much to overcome as Georgia Tech fell 12-8 on Tuesday night at Mac Nease Baseball Park at Russ Chandler Stadium.

The Yellow Jackets (25-17) jumped ahead 3-1 early before the Trojans (25-14) got hot and scored give over the third and fourth innings. From there it was a stalemate as LHP Sam Crawford steadied the game with 1.2 innings of no-hit work before the ninth inning. RHP Chance Huff (3-2) received the loss on the night, allowing three runs on two hits in 0.2 innings of work.

In addition to Parada’s two-homer, five-RBI night, Tech was led by Stephen Reid and Andrew Jenkins, who both finished with three hits. Reid had a double and an RBI, while Jenkins had two doubles. Chandler Simpson also recorded two hits for the game, while Tres Gonzalez had an RBI double.

Troy was led at the plate by William Sullivan, who went 3-for-5 with four RBI. LHP Kyle Gamble (1-3) received the win on 1.2 innings of work, allowing two runs on two hits.

Georgia Tech concludes its eight-game homestand this weekend as it hosts No. 3 Miami (Fla.) on April 29-May 1. First pitches are scheduled for 6 p.m., 4 p.m., and 1 p.m., respectively.
