ATLANTA – Competing in the only Atlanta meet of the season, Georgia Tech’s cross country teams will race at the Georgia Intercollegiate Championships on Saturday morning. The meet will be contested at Georgia State’s Panthersville course beginning with the men’s eight-kilometer race at 9 a.m. and followed by the women’s 5K event at 10.
The meet features teams from around the state of Georgia, including host schools Georgia State and Emory. Berry College and Mercer will also be running on Saturday.
Racing this weekend for the Tech women are freshmen Ann Armsby, Mary Chind, and Alice Koerner, sophomores Misty Dirksen and Catherine Spoth, and junior Jessica Vaughn. Chind has been the fifth finisher for Tech in both races in 2003, while Dirksen was the Jackets’ fourth finisher at the UTC Opener and sixth at the Wake Forest Invite. Armsby, Koerner, Spoth, and Vaughn have also competed in both of the first two races of the season.
On the men’s side, sophomores Clark Rivers and Michael Sinagra, juniors Chris dos Santos and Gaben Moore, and senior Daniel Moss will race. Sinagra only ran in the season opener at Chattanooga, while the other four harriers competed in both races for the Jackets.
Several of Tech’s top runners will not be competing this Saturday.
