Tech Climbs to No. 11 in AVCA Top 25

LEXINGTON, Ky. Georgia Tech volleyball has been ranked No. 11 in the AVCA Division I Coaches Top 25 Women’s Poll, the organization announced on Monday. The 11 spot ties the eighth highest ranking received by the Yellow Jackets in program history, joining the 2003 squad.

Tech remains one of three ACC teams inside the top 15. Throughout the Jackets’ gauntlet, the White and Gold have already swept No. 15 BYU and faced No. 6 Ohio State, but are also slated to face two more opponents ranked in the current top 15 this season in No. 2 Louisville and No. 10 Pitt. Each of the aforementioned teams reached the NCAA Tournament in 2021 as Louisville and Pitt each advanced to the Final Four while Ohio State and BYU both played into the Sweet 16. The Jackets eliminated the Buckeyes during their Elite Eight run.

Georgia Tech’s selection marks the 14th consecutive appearance in the AVCA’s top 15, beginning with a No. 13 ranking last season on Oct. 18, 2021.

Reappearing in the top 25 for the first time since 2005 at No. 12 on Sept. 30, 2020, Tech has since been listed in 44 straight top 25 polls to date.

Georgia Tech remains among the nation’s best after opening ACC play with a pair of sweeps on The Flats, downing Wake Forest and Virginia Tech.

As a unit, Georgia Tech is currently third in the ACC in both kills per set (13.51) and assists per set (12.46) while ranking fourth in the league in hitting percentage (.265). Individually, Bergmann continues to lead the nation in kills per set (5.43) and points per set (6.15).

Tech has won 67 of its last 81 matches dating back to 2019. The Yellow Jackets have also won 41 of their last 47 matches at home, capping this weekend with the program’s 300th win inside O’Keefe Gymnasium.

Georgia Tech will next take its first conference road trip, heading to Notre Dame (5-7, 0-2 ACC) on Sept. 30 for a 7 p.m. contest in South Bend, Ind. before closing out the weekend at No. 2 Louisville (11-1, 2-0 ACC) on Oct. 2 at 1 p.m. in Louisville, Ky. The battle against the Fighting Irish will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra, while the heavyweight matchup between the Yellow Jackets and Cardinals will be broadcast on ESPN.
