Tyson Wachenheim is in his second year as a graduate assistant at Georgia Tech. He assists with the Yellow Jackets’ defense.
Wachenheim came to The Flats after two seasons as tight ends coach at Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, Va. With the NCAA Division I FCS Keydets, he coached first-team all-Southern Conference tight end Ryan Swingle.
Prior to beginning his coaching career at VMI, Wachenheim was a tight end at Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Va. from 2011-14. He graduated from CNU with a bachelor’s degree in American studies in 2015.
Wachenheim is the son of Scott Wachenheim, the current head coach at VMI, whose resume also includes stops as an assistant coach at Utah State, Rice, Liberty, Virginia and with the Washington Redskins.
Tyson was a four-year letterwinner at three different high schools and an honorable-mention all-district tight end as a senior at Monticello H.S. in Charlottesville, Va.
