Oct. 17, 2014

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Georgia Tech senior offensive guard Shaquille Mason was named to Phil Steele‘s Midseason All-America Third Team. Mason, who has made 31 consecutive starts for the Jackets, has helped anchor the line that has paved the way for Georgia Tech’s explosive offense.

The Columbia, Tenn., native was one of two Yellow Jackets to earn first-team Midseason All-ACC honors from Phil Steele. Redshirt junior Jamal Golden, who leads the ACC with 434 kick return yards, was Steele’s first-team kick returner.

Senior WR DeAndre Smelter and sophomore OL Freddie Burden were named to the Midseason All-ACC Second Team. Smelter leads Tech with 360 receiving yards and a team-best four TDs. Smelter has recorded three 100-yard receiving games.

Burden has started all six games at center for the Jackets this season.
