THE FLATS — #ProJackets continued to excite in Week 9 of the NFL’s schedule as Demaryius Thomas debuted well with his new team, Morgan Burnett helped keep the Ravens at bay, Adam Gotsis had a season-best outing and Harrison Butker knocked home five kicks to help Kansas City improve to 8-1.
Wideout Thomas downed a new uniform for the first time on Sunday after being traded for by the Houston Texans. His first opponent with the Texans – his former team, the Denver Broncos. Thomas wasted no time in proving his worth to Houston, hauling in three passes for 61 yards on the day, including a 31-yarder on the first drive of the game – the third-longest of the season for him. The Texans outlasted the Broncos 19-17 in the showdown.
Strong safety Burnett had his best game of the season since Sept. 16 as he helped the Steelers win their fourth-straight game, a 23-16 victory over Baltimore. Burnett finished with five tackles, three total, for the second-highest total of the season (prev.: six vs. Kansas City).
Defensive end Gotsis finished with a season-high four combined tackles in the 19-17 setback to Houston. All four of the takedowns were solo, which doubles up his previous season-best of two that he had against Arizona on Oct. 18.
Butker’s Chiefs continued to be an almost unstoppable force, improving to 8-1 with a 37-21 win on the road in Cleveland. Butker knocked down a 39-yard field goal in the win as well as finished 4-for-5 on PATs. Where he also did damage in the game was on the kickoff, where he boomed seven kicks at a 64.3-yard clip, including six touchbacks.
