– GEORGIA TECH HEAD COACH Paul Hewitt
“They did a nice job playing zone and protecting Turiaf. But I thought in the first half we gave up too many drives to the middle of the floor. Morrison’s a terrific scorer off the bounce, with his size he’s able to shoot over people. While we did a good job on Turiaf in the first half, Morrison was the major difference. He played really well.
[At what point did you feel the game get away from you] “It was that run in the middle of the second half. We called a couple of timeouts. I thought we came out of the locker room playing pretty good defense. But we couldn’t get anything on the board. We missed a couple of shots. We were stuck on 41 there for a while.
“We talked in the locker room at halftime about putting ourselves in position with four minutes to go. We knew it was going to be a tough ball game. Let’s out ourselves within striking distance. We were somewhat there, but we had a couple shots roll out on us.
[On reacting to being in a close ballgame] “I’m not really sure. I have a tough time judging that. I just thought that defensively, from the beginning, we didn’t play as well as we’re capable of. And they played extremely well. Morrison was terrific tonight.
[On Will Bynum’s career night] “He was outstanding. Will played very aggressive basketball. To put up 28 points against a team like that, you’re playing well.
“I don’t want to give anyone the idea we were giving up layups. Morrison made a lot of tough shots. We came into the game with the idea of keeping Turiaf and Morrison down as much as we could, and we weren’t successful.”
