THE FLATS – No. 31 Georgia Tech men’s tennis heads to Rome, Ga., for the start of the 2021 ACC Men’s Tennis Championships at the Rome Tennis Center, opening play as the No. 8 seed against No. 9 seeded Miami on Thursday, April 22 at 3:30 p.m. (EST).

The Jackets are on a two match win streak following victories against Boston College and Louisville to end the regular season. Tech finished the 2021 campaign with a 12-8 record, with a 6-6 (.500) showing in conference play. Earlier in mid-February the Jackets suffered a 6-1 loss to the Hurricanes on the road, giving them extra incentive to start post season with a chip on their shoulders.

Marcus McDaniel was recently ranked as the No. 20 singles player in the country according to the latest ITA Men’s Singles Rankings. No. 38 Andres Martin joined McDaniel in the top singles rankings, having a combined 29-12 record in singles.

In the most recent ITA Doubles Rankings a trio of Yellow Jacket pairings were featured including No. 38 McDaniel/Pablo Schelcher, No. 50 McDaniel/Martin and No. 57 Keshav Chopra/Martin.

Miami has one doubles duo ranked in the top-30, with Franco Aubone/Benjamin Hannestad sitting at the No. 27 spot. Adria Soriano Barrera is the Hurricanes only ranked singles player coming in at No. 51. Tech is 12-36 all-time versus Miami, and is looking for their first ACC Championships victory since they beat Virginia Tech 4-3 in late April of 2018.
