No. 6 Jackets Run-Rule Tigers 16-6

THE FLATS – No. 6 Georgia Tech baseball remained red-hot at home, improving to 12-0 at home, as it routed Jackson State 16-6 in eight innings on a rainy Tuesday afternoon at Mac Nease Baseball Park at Russ Chandler Stadium.

The Yellow Jackets (14-3) got a big lift from Andrew Jenkins and Drew Compton on the day offensively. Jenkins had two home runs for four RBI and Compton had two hits, a homer and two RBI. Tres Gonzalez rounded out the multi-hit performances with a double and an RBI for two hits, while Kevin Parada, Colin Hall and Tyler Hare had two RBI.

On the mound, LHP Luke Bartnicki (2-0) was terrific in his start, going 3.0 innings and scattering just three hits for a run and punching out four on the day to just one walk. RHP Cole McNamee, RHP Xander Stephens and RHP Cort Roedig finished the game, keeping the lead.

The Tigers (10-7) was led by Jaelen Williams, who finished with a homer and two RBI. Starter RHP Jesse Caver (0-2) took the loss, surrendering three runs on three hits and three walks on 1.2 innings.

The Yellow Jackets conclude its two-game series against Jackson State on Wednesday, March 16. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. and will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra and WREK 91.1 FM.
