ANN ARBOR, Mich. – On the final day of competition at the Michigan Invite Monday, No. 14 Georgia Tech took home six wins between singles and doubles play. The Yellow Jackets faced Tennessee in singles action and No. 10 Michigan in doubles play.
Tech kicked off the morning with its final round of singles action, facing Tennessee. The squads split the eight matches as the Jackets collected wins from Dalila Said, Nadia Gizdova, Gia Cohen and No. 24 Kenya Jones. Said notched her second singles win of the weekend on Monday, downing Tenika McGiffin in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3, while Gizdova defeated Kylie Duckworth by the same set scores. Making her Yellow Jacket debut this weekend, Cohen won a three-set battle against Adriadna Riley, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, for her second singles win. Jones rounded out the victories for Tech, grabbing a win over Sadie Hammond, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.
In doubles action, the Jackets picked up a pair of wins over host, No. 10 Michigan. Tech’s doubles pair of Jones and Jeanette Lin defeated Kate Fahey and Giulia Pairone in a tiebreak, 7-6 (8), while Cohen paired with Nami Otsuka to defeat Bella Lorenzini and Anca Cracium, 6-4.
Through the three-day tournament, Tech recorded 10 singles wins and seven doubles victories to start the spring slate.
Up next, Georgia Tech plays host to the ITA Kick-Off Weekend at Ken Byers Tennis Complex, Jan. 26-27. The Jackets welcome No. 25 Auburn, Kentucky and Ohio State.
