No. 11 Yellow Jackets Set for First ACC Road Trip

THE FLATS – No. 11 Georgia Tech volleyball (9-2, 2-0 ACC) will take its first road trip of conference play over the weekend, heading to Notre Dame (5-7, 0-2 ACC) on Friday for a 7 p.m. contest in South Bend, Ind. before closing out the weekend at No. 2 Louisville (11-1, 2-0 ACC) on Sunday at 1 p.m. in Louisville, Ky.

The heavyweight matchup between the Yellow Jackets and Cardinals will be broadcast on ESPN, marking Tech’s first appearance on the primary channel for The Worldwide Leader in Sports in program history on record.

  • Georgia Tech earned its 300th win inside O’Keefe Gymnasium to wrap up last weekend after sweeping its first ACC foes of the season in Wake Forest and Virginia Tech.
  • Coach Michelle Collier earned her 200th career win in Tech’s defeat of Wake Forest, now owning 201 including the triumph over Virginia Tech.
  • Georgia Tech now owns seven sweeps on the year after opening ACC play at 2-0.
  • Senior outside hitter Julia Bergmann currently leads the nation in kills per set (5.43) and points per set (6.15).
  • Bergmann is up to six 20+ kill outings this season, three of which have come against ranked opponents.
  • Bergmann wrapped up the weekend tallying that sixth 20+ kill match, leading the way against Virginia Tech. The decorated outside hitter also added her fourth double-digit dig match to begin ACC play with 10 digs against Wake Forest.
  • The Jackets were ranked No. 11 in this week’s AVCA DI Coaches Preseason Poll.
  • The 11 spot ties the eighth highest ranking received by the Yellow Jackets in program history, joining the 2003 squad.
  • Tech’s selection marks the 14th consecutive appearance in the AVCA’s top 15, beginning with a No. 13 ranking last season on Oct. 18, 2021.
  • The Yellow Jackets have been listed in 44 straight top 25 polls to date.
  • Georgia Tech remains one of three ACC teams inside the top 15 (No. 2 Louisville, No. 10 Pitt).
  • As a unit, the nation’s No. 11 squad is third in the ACC in both kills per set (13.51) and assists per set (12.46) while ranking fourth in the league in hitting percentage (.265).
  • Going beyond 2019’s NIVC title, Tech has won 67 of its last 81 matches.
  • Over the course of the past four seasons, Georgia Tech is 41-6 at home in O’Keefe Gymnasium. Tech is 300-103 (.744) all time in O’Keefe Gymnasium’s 28-year history.

Series History

  • Georgia Tech holds a 7-6 lead over Notre Dame in the all-time series. The Yellow Jackets own the longest streak of the series, winning five straight from 2014-17. The White and Gold lead the Fighting Irish 3-2 on the road while the two sides are tied 4-4 on The Flats. Tech’s last win over Notre Dame came in five sets in 2019.
  • Louisville currently leads Georgia Tech 12-3 in the all-time series. The Yellow Jackets claimed each of their wins on The Flats, including two of the first three meetings and most recently in 2016.
