• Coming off its second series sweep, No. 10 Georgia Tech stays local by heading across town to battle Georgia State on Tuesday, March 1 at the GSU Baseball Complex.
• The matchup marks the 82nd meeting between the two programs since 1971, with Georgia Tech leading the series 69-12.
• The 10th-ranked Yellow Jackets have proved to be every bit of the offensive powerhouse they were touted to be in the preseason, hitting .361 with 92 runs through eight games.
• Chandler Simpson has been the spark plug for Tech, hitting .533 out of the leadoff with a .622 on-base percentage and eight stolen bases. In his 30 at-bats, he’s scored 17 times. He leads the ACC in stolen bases and is third nationally.
• Kevin Parada was named National Player of the Week after hitting .571 with 12 hits, four doubles and five home runs for 17 RBI last week.
• Also red-hot at the plate are Andrew Jenkins (.448), Drew Compton (.429), Tres Gonzalez (.400) and Colin Hall (.333).
• Tech’s pitching was impressive last weekend, working to a 3.68 team ERA on the week, striking out 56 batters in 44.0 innings.
• Chance Huff commanded the zone, helping Tech shut out Gardner-Webb, and striking out nine overall.
• Zach Maxwell then followed suit, striking out a career-high 11 batters in a career-long 6.0 innings.
• Getting his first start of the season will be sophomore Marquis Grissom, Jr.
• In three appearances out of the bullpen, Grissom has struck out 10 and walked none, recording a tough-luck 8.53 ERA in 6.1 innings.
