THE FLATS – Georgia Tech women’s basketball was dealt its first loss on the 2026-27 season Sunday inside McCamish Pavilion at the hands of the reigning Big 12 Champion and 24th-ranked West Virginia Mountaineers, 81-63.
The Yellow Jackets (2-1, 0-0 ACC) fought back from an early deficit after the Mountaineers (3-0, 0-0 Big 12) scored 27 in the first quarter to gain separation. Despite shooting over 41% in three of the four quarters, Tech was unable to rally back for its first ranked victory of the year.
Talayah Walker led the Jackets with 21 points and is now averaging 25.7 per game on the season. Ariadna Termis added a career-high 14 points on an efficient 6-for-8 from the floor.
Erica Moon continued her impressive start to the year with eight assists – one shy of tying her career-best. She also tied her career-high of four steals, a mark she has met in every game so far this season. Sunday also saw the first collegiate points for sophomore Penda Dieng, who scored four against West Virginia.
Tech's seventh-best assist average in the nation Sunday with 21 assists on 25 made buckets.
