THE FLATS – Behind two team wins, three individual titles and an impressive start to the Ryan Hybl era, Georgia Tech golf has closed the fall season ranked No. 10 in both the Bushnell/Golfweek DI Coaches’ Poll and Scoreboard Clippd NCAA rankings.
Georgia Tech opened the Hybl era in fashion, sweeping the Folds of Honor Collegiate with both the team and individual titles to begin the fall tournament slate. Over three rounds, the Yellow Jackets finished 18-under-par for a team total of 834, claiming the top spot by five strokes. Freshman Max Emberson made his collegiate debut in Michigan in statement style. The Jacket’s first collegiate round came as an 8-under-par 63 and helped fuel the Thousand Oaks, Calif., native to winning the individual title by two strokes.
Tech looked to carry momentum into its second tournament of the fall, Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational. The Jackets finished eighth (818, -22), but Emberson once again made a statement, claiming a share of the individual title to open his collegiate career with back-to-back titles. Through two tournaments, Emberson owned a scoring average of 66.50 and became the first Georgia Tech freshman to win, not only consecutive tournaments, but his first two tournaments played in. Emberson joined elite company in Georgia Tech history, becoming the 11th Jacket to win a tournament in his freshman year and only the 21st player in program history to win multiple titles in his collegiate career.
The Yellow Jackets closed out the month of September at the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational, grabbing a 12th-place finish (866, +26). Albert Hansson led the Jackets in a tie for 16th. Emberson capped the month earning ACC Golfer of the Month.

Hansson finished ninth, followed by Kale Fontenot and Emberson, tied for 21st.
Tech closed the fall slate with a runner-up finish at the Steelwood Collegiate Invitational, just missing its third tournament title by two strokes to No. 3 Auburn.
