THE CROSS ERA BEGINS
The Scott Cross era officially gets underway on Tuesday night as Georgia Tech tips off the 2026-27 season hosting
Hampton in the season-opener for both teams. Cross was named the 16th head coach in Georgia Tech men’s basketball history in March 2026. He carries over 25 years of collegiate coaching experience, including 19 seasons as a head coach and brings a 350-260 all-time record as a head coach to Georgia Tech. Cross has led teams to four regular-season conference championships, three conference tournament titles, three NCAA Tournaments and eight total postseason berths.

THE TIP-OFF
In the first meeting in program history between the teams, the Yellow Jackets and Pirates tip at 7 p.m. on ACC Network Extra.

INSIDE THE ROSTER
The Yellow Jackets are composed of a 15-member squad with 13 newcomers that include seven transfers and a six-member freshmen class. Earlier this summer, Tech took a foreign tour to The Bahamas for a pair of international exhibition contests for the first set of matchups this season. Tech grabbed both matchups behind double-figure totals from Nasir Whitlock, who led the Jackets at 19.5 points per game, and Courtland Muldrew (19.0 ppg).

Tech returns just two from the 2025-26 roster – fifth year Kam Craft and sophomore Cole Kirouac – for just 19.0 percent of its scoring. Tech is one of three teams in the Atlantic Coast Conference to return 12 percent or less of its scoring from last season.

TECH IN SEASON-OPENERS
Georgia Tech has won three-straight season openers dating back to 2021-22. Since the opening of McCamish Pavilion for the 2012-13 season, Tech is 10-3 in season-openers.

Head coach Scott Cross is 16-2 in season-openers as a head coach, including a 6-1 record at Troy and a 10-1 ledger at UT Arlington.

UP NEXT
Georgia Tech continues this eight-game homestand to open the 2026-27 season on Friday, welcoming Georgia Southern to McCamish Pavilion. Tip is slated for 7 p.m. on ACC Network Extra.
