Jackets Set for Blue Gray Classic

THE FLATS - The Georgia Tech men’s tennis team will continue its fall campaign at the 78th-annual Blue Gray National Tennis Classic from Friday through Sunday in Montgomery, Alabama.

Blue Gray National Tennis Classic

  • October 2-4
  • Lagoon Park Tennis Center (Montgomery, Ala.)
  • Draws

The tournament will begin on Friday at 9 a.m., with Tech facing Alabama State in the upper draw. Each matchup features two doubles matches and four singles matches, with each victory securing a point for their team. If the score is level at 3-3, teams will play a 10-point tiebreaker in doubles to determine the winner.

The Jackets’ next matchup will be against either Texas Tech or Tulane, beginning with the doubles matches on Friday evening before continuing with the singles portion the following day. GT will also have two additional players compete in a mixed team with Memphis, two players from each team. The mixed team battles Alabama in the lower draw before facing Columbia or South Alabama.

The Tech senior class of Richard Biagiotti, Owen DeMuth, Jonathan Irwanto, and Elias Shokry will be making their second appearances of the fall season along with freshmen Mason Taube and Lucas Yunez. All six players competed in the Grizzly Invite, with Biagiotti winning his singles draw with three consecutive wins and the doubles squad of DeMuth and Shokry capturing a doubles draw title.

Tech features six returners from last season’s squad, including five of its main starters in singles play from the previous spring. Taube begins his collegiate career as the No. 1-ranked player in the state of Georgia in the 2026 cycle. Yunez enters as the No. 2-rated junior from Ecuador coming off his first career ATP Challengers win and competing at the 2026 Roland Garros Juniors Championships.
