Jackets Travel to Stanford for A Late Night ACC Battle

• Georgia Tech opens Atlantic Coast Conference play with a historic trip to Stanford.

• In addition to serving as its 2026 ACC opener, Saturday's game is the first-ever
regular-season meeting between Georgia Tech and Stanford, two of America's most
prestigious academic institutions.

• The Yellow Jackets and Cardinal are meeting for the third time overall, with the
two previous meetings having both come in the postseason — Georgia Tech wins
in the 1991 Aloha Bowl (18-17) and the 2001 Seattle Bowl (24-14). In both games,
the unranked Jackets upset a nationally ranked Stanford squad (the Cardinal were
ranked No. 17 in 1991 and No. 11 in 2001).

• Saturday's game is Georgia Tech's first versus one of the three newest members
of the ACC — Stanford, Cal and SMU, which were all admitted to the league in
2024. The Yellow Jackets are the last ACC team to have never faced one of the
conference's newcomers in league play.

• The 2,457 trip to Stanford is the third-longest that Georgia Tech has ever made for
a conference game, behind only its ACC games in versus Boston College and Florida
State in Dublin, Ireland to open the 2016 and 2024 seasons, respectively (3,938
miles). The trip to Stanford is more than twice as long as the Yellow Jackets' previous
long for a conference game at a non-neutral site (2020 and 2025 at Boston
College — 1,069 miles).

• After a 0-2 start that included losses to Colorado (14-13) and now-No.
14/13-ranked Tennessee (45-24), Tech is looking to even its record at 2-2 following
last Saturday's 44-11 win over Mercer. A win would mark just the fifth time in the
Jackets' 134-season history that they rebounded from an 0-2 start to even their record
at 2-2 (they previously accomplished the feat in 1903, 1950, 1973 and 1978.)
