THE FLATS – Georgia Tech volleyball (8-2, 0-0 ACC) is set to conclude its four-match road stand against UgA (7-2, 0-0 SEC) on Saturday at 7 p.m. in Athens, Ga.
Storylines
- The Yellow Jackets most recently played their first ranked opponents of the season after taking on No. 20 Baylor and No. 1 Nebraska as part of the Ameritas Players Challenge hosted by the Huskers.
- Tech volleyball brought home its first ACC honor of the week as right side Alida Bennour was named ACC Freshman of the Week. The honor is the right side’s first career ACC honor.
- Bennour has led Tech in six of 10 matches played so far.
- She spent last week recording a combined 50 kills, averaging 3.57 kills per set along with eight aces, 14 digs, and six block assists across four matches, including 16 kills against No. 1 Nebraska on Saturday.
- With her 50-kill week, Bennour surpassed 100 kills after the first three weeks of the season. She also leads the Jackets in aces (19) and sits third on the team for total blocks (27). Bennour’s team-leading 19 aces rank her third in the ACC while her 126 points, 4.20 points per set is also in the conference’s top-10 ranks (9).
- Tech volleyball is the first program to force No. 1 Nebraska to drop a set this season, with the 26-24 set-one win, despite the nation-leading Huskers already having faced No. 2 Texas, No. 11 SMU, No. 17 Florida and No. 20 Baylor.
- Fellow freshman Magda Kobaidze also had a strong week with a combined 38 kills, one assist, eight aces, 29 digs, and six blocks, including one solo block.
- Heloise Soares has been Tech’s primary setter this season with freshman Sasha Godey seeing action in 11 of 34 sets so far this season. Soares leads the team with 352 assists so far this season including four 40+ assist matches in 10 matches played.
- Soares’ total assists rank her 15th in the nation, which is also tied with Clemson for second most in the ACC.
- Freshman Magda Kobaidze and sophomore Laura Bieleski help Bennour with the offensive efforts with both outside hitters sitting with 94 kills respectively.
- Defensively the transfers have locked down the net with former Lady Vol Zoe Humphrey leading the team with 40 total blocks and former Panther Bianca Garibaldi just behind her with 30 block assists and three solo put downs.
- In her second season as a Yellow Jacket, Garibaldi holds Tech’s most efficient attack percentage, working with a .390 clip.
- After starting the season with seven straight wins, Tech saw its best start since 2023 when the Jackets opened the season with a seven-match win streak.
Series Notes
- Tech enters the match trailing the overall series with Georgia, 26-20, with the Bulldogs winning 87 sets and the Yellow Jackets winning 73.
- The Yellow Jackets fell in the most recent meeting, dropping the match 3-2 in the 2025 season McCamish Match which was in front of a record-breaking crowd (5,476).
- Tech has collected nine wins across 20 total road matches with its most recent win over Georgia in Athens coming during the 2024 season (3-1).

Tech volleyball’s annual McCamish Match is set to return with twice the action as the Yellow Jackets will take on No. 2 Pitt, presented by Solomon Brothers and No. 8 SMU, presented by Delta. Tickets are priced as follows for the ranked matches:
