THE FLATS - The Georgia Tech cross country teams return to the course with the annual Southern Showcase on Friday, September 18, from John Hunt Cross Country Park. Tech finished amongst the top-10 in both races last year as the women claimed fourth place overall.

The field is highlighted by #4/11 Alabama, Clemson, Mississippi State, and Auburn. Tech has finished in the top-10 team leaderboard in each of its last three races at the event, placing inside the top-five in five of the last six races. Seven Yellow Jackets secured top-50 finishes across the 8k and 5k races in the 2025 edition.
Taylor Wade notched his second career race win in the Stan Sims XC Opener, recording two wins in his last three regular season races. Wade has been the top Tech runner in three of the last five races dating back to 2025 and scored points in four of the previous five races.
Claire Shelton led the women’s squad with a second-place finish in the season opener as she has finished as the lead GT runner in both the ACC and NCAA South Regional events. She has placed among the top-three of Tech runners in all of collegiate cross country races.
Georgia Tech is ranked inside the top-10 in the first batch of the USTFCCCA Cross Country Regional rankings this season, both squads coming in ninth amongst the south region. The Jackets were also ranked 13th and 17th in the ACC Men’s and Women’s Preseason Coaches Poll, respectively.
Full Steam Ahead
Full Steam Ahead is a $500 million fundraising initiative to achieve Georgia Tech athletics’ goal of competing for championships at the highest level in the next era of intercollegiate athletics. The initiative will fund transformative projects for Tech athletics, including renovations of Bobby Dodd Stadium at Hyundai Field (the historic home of Georgia Tech football), the Zelnak Basketball Center (the practice and training facility for Tech basketball) and O’Keefe Gymnasium (the venerable home of Yellow Jackets volleyball), as well as additional projects and initiatives to further advance Georgia Tech athletics through program wide-operational support.
