• Georgia Tech looks to get in the win column this week when they host longtime
in-state foe Mercer.

• Georgia Tech has opened the season with defeats to Colorado (14-13) and
now-No. 15/14-ranked Tennessee (45-24). The Yellow Jackets are one of only three
Power Four-conference teams that opened the season with back-to-back powerconference
opponents.

• Tech and Mercer, whose campuses are separated by just 88 miles, are meeting on
the gridiron for the 17th time, but only the second time in the last 88 seasons.

• Mercer was the opponent for the first official football game in Georgia Tech history
on Nov. 5, 1892 at Central Park in Macon, Ga. Mercer won the game, 12-6

• The Yellow Jackets and Bears played 15 times from 1892-1938, but since then,
their only meeting came in a 35-10 Georgia Tech victory on Sept. 10, 2016. The
2016 triumph gave the Jackets a commanding 14-1-1 lead in the series, which
includes a current 12-game winning streak over the Bears.

• Georgia Tech Sr. RB Justice Haynes accounted for 117 yards from scrimmage
(81 rushing, 36 receiving) and two touchdowns (one rushing, one receiving) last Saturday
versus Tennessee. It marked the eighth time in his career, and seventh time in
his last nine games dating back to last season at Michigan, that he has surpassed
100 yards from scrimmage.

• Tech team captain and fifth-year PK Aidan Birr could make history on Saturday,
as he needs just one field goal to tie and two to break the school record for career
FGs, which is currently held by Travis Bell, who made 61 FG from 2004-07.
