Efford Lands on Witten Collegiate Man of the Year Watch List

Two-time team captain honored for leadership

THE FLATS – Fifth-year linebacker Kyle Efford (Dacula, Ga./Dacula H.S.) represents Georgia Tech on the official watch list for the 2026 Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year award.

Efford is one of 80 players on the watch list for the Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year Award, which honors players that have demonstrated a record of leadership by exhibiting exceptional courage, integrity and sportsmanship, on and off the field.

Efford has been one of Georgia Tech’s most prominent team leaders over the last four seasons. He has served on the team’s leadership council each of the last four years (2023-26) and is in his second season as a team captain (he was also voted a team captain in 2024).

A four-year starter, Efford has racked up 236 tackles in 41 games as a Yellow Jacket, including a career-high-tying 13 in last week’s season opener against Colorado. He’s led Georgia Tech in tackles each of the last three seasons, becoming the first Jacket to lead the team in stops for three seasons in a row since Ricardo Wimbush from 1999-2001. Efford is looking to become the first Tech player to ever lead the team in tackles for four-straight seasons.

He graduated from Georgia Tech in December 2025 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration.

The Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year selection committee will select 20 award semifinalists in October and three finalists in December. The winner of the 10th Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year award will be announced at a ceremony in Spring 2027.

Efford and Georgia Tech renew their century-old rivalry with Tennessee on Saturday, when the Yellow Jackets and Volunteers square off for only the second time in 39 years. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Bobby Dodd Stadium at Hyundai Field. The game will be televised nationally on ESPN.

Tickets for Saturday’s game are sold out, which is Georgia Tech’s fourth-straight sellout at Bobby Dodd Stadium. The four-game sellout streak is Tech’s longest since 1999. Tickets for the sold-out game can be purchased at SeatGeek, the Official Ticket Marketplace of the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.

2026 GEORGIA TECH FOOTBALL TICKETS

2026 Georgia Tech football mini-plan and single-game tickets remain on sale. The ACC Pick-3 Mini Plan offers a 15% savings over purchasing tickets on a single-game basis, allowing fans to choose three of the Yellow Jackets’ four ACC home games this season – versus Duke (Saturday, Oct. 10), Boston College (Saturday, Oct. 24), Louisville (Saturday, Nov. 7) and Wake Forest (Saturday, Nov. 21) – starting at just $96.

Single-Game Tickets
