GREENSBORO, N.C. – Senior outside hitter Julia Bergmann has been named ACC Player of the Week for the second time in as many weeks after leading undefeated No. 5 Georgia Tech volleyball (5-0) to three more wins at the GT Invitational, the league office announced on Monday.
Bergmann has received both of the ACC’s weekly recognitions as top player in the conference this season after gathering four such honors a season ago. Last year, she became the first student-athlete in the conference to receive ACC Player of the Week four times in a season since 2015. Compiling her accolades, Bergmann is up to seven career ACC Player of the Week honors and nine total Atlantic Coast Conference weekly awards after earning ACC Freshman of the Week twice in her first season on The Flats.
The decorated Jacket led Tech to its second straight undefeated weekend to open the season, garnering MVP honors of the home-hosted GT Invitational after piling up 47 kills at a .392 clip, 23 digs, nine blocks (one solo, eight assisted) and five aces. With those numbers, she currently leads the nation in points per set (6.32) and is second in the country in kills per set (5.41).
