THE FLATS – Georgia Tech women’s basketball will head to Michigan State for the 2022 ACC/Big Ten Challenge on Thursday, Dec. 1. The ACC, in conjunction with the Big Ten Conference, announced the full lineup of matchups for the 15th installment of the Challenge on Monday.
The matchups of conference rivals feature 14 games to be played over a two-day period, Nov. 30 and Dec. 1. Game times, as well as television and streaming coverage, will be announced at a later date. All Big Ten home games will appear on either Big Ten Network, Big Ten Network+ or an ESPN network.
Georgia Tech is 8-6 all-time in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge including a 6-1 record when competing at home. In the last edition of the Challenge, the Jackets visited Purdue in 2021, falling on a buzzer beater to the Boilermakers. Tech has recorded Challenge wins over Wisconsin (2019), Purdue (2017), Illinois (2013), Nebraska (2011), Northwestern (2010), Penn State (2009), Michigan State (2008) and Iowa (2007).
The Yellow Jackets and Spartans have met twice in Challenge history with the series tied 1-1. Georgia Tech last met Michigan State in 2014 in East Lansing with the Spartans winning in overtime, 79-73. The programs first met in 2008 in Atlanta with the Jackets taking the decision, 70-57.
Georgia Tech is coming off a successful 2021-22 season, finishing with a 21-11 overall record and its second trip to the NCAA Tournament in as many years. The Yellow Jackets climbed as high as No. 11 in the Associated Press poll and finished with an 11-7 Atlantic Coast Conference record. Tech returns seven letterwinners from last season’s squad and welcomes six newcomers.
