TRINGALE LAST MAN STANDING IN NEW ORLEANS
With the entire city buzzing over Jose Alvarado and the Pelicans vs. the Phoenix Suns in the NBA Playoffs, Cameron Tringale was unable to steal any of his fellow alumnus’ thunder last weekend, tying for 10th place at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.
Teamed up with former Oklahoma State All-American Wyndham Clark, Tringale and his partner scored well on best ball rounds (62-65), not so well in alternate shot (67-72) and finished at 22-under-par 266, seven strokes off the lead.
Tringale, who remains Tech’s highest ranked alumnus on the Tour’s FedEx Cup points list at No. 27, was the only former Yellow Jacket to make the cut, as Chesson Hadley, Seth Reeves, Richy Werenski and Vincent Whaley all missed the cut.
Returning to individual stroke play this week, the Tour goes South to Mexico for the Mexico Open, where Reeves, Tringale, Werenski and Whaley are in the field.

DUVAL REDEDICATING HIMSELF TO COMPETITIVE GOLF
For most golf fans, the number they quickly associate with David Duval is 59.
As in the 59 Duval shot in the final round of the 1999 Bob Hope Chrysler Classic — the desert’s PGA event now called the American Express — a round that allowed him to come from seven shots behind to win the title with the best closing round in PGA Tour history.
But these days, the number Duval thinks about most is not 59, but 50. When Duval turned 50 in November, he was automatically the latest rookie to be eligible for the PGA Tour Champions. Duval was on hand Tuesday for the announcement of a new PGA Tour Champions event in the Coachella Valley next spring, and he was happy at the prospect of playing competitive golf in the desert again.
“It’s cool that they are adding a new event, that we are going to have another good spot on the schedule,” Duval said of the event planned for Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage. “It’s a good time of year, more than likely perfect weather out there. My wife and I have been looking forward to this and getting back to playing full time. We are just kind of learning the in’s and out’s of it again, having not done it so long.”

STRAFACI ATTEMPTS TO QUALIFY FOR PGA TOUR CANADA
Tyler Strafaci, the 2020 U.S. Amateur champion who continues to look for traction as a professional, teed it up in the state of Washington last weekend in an attempt to gain status on the PGA Tour Canada. The Davie, Fla., native tied for 14th place, posting rounds of 72-69-71-72 for a 4-under-par total of 284, earning conditional membership by finishing between the 10th and 30th positions.
Former Tech stars Chris Petefish and Luke Schniederjans have full membership on the Canadian circuit, which begins in June, while Petefish also has conditional membership on the Korn Ferry Tour.

DICKSON SOLID ON GPRO TOUR
Will Dickson earned another solid finish on the GPro Tour last week with a tie for 12th place at the Huntsville Open. The 2021 graduate closed with rounds of 64-66 to post a 13-under-par total of 200. Owner of a victory earlier in the season, Dickson is eighth on the tour’s points list.
