TOP STORYLINES
• No. 7 Georgia Tech baseball tackles its first midweek matchups by traveling to in-state foe Georgia Southern on Tuesday before hosting NCAA Nashville participant Presbyterian on Wednesday.
• Ga. Southern is one of Tech’s most-played opponents, currently standing at 135 contests between the two teams since 1947. Tech leads the all-time series 104-31.
• Despite playing in the same regional last season, Tech hasn’t faced Presbyterian since 2015. GT has won six straight vs. the Blue Hose and are 8-2 overall since the first time the two teams played in 1939.
• The seventh-ranked Yellow Jackets turned in a terrific opening week performance by sweeping a hard-nosed Wright State team.
• Six players hit .300 with three hitting .500 or better.
• Andrew Jenkins and Drew Compton led the way by hitting .667 and .600, respectively.
• Chandler Simpson was a force in his first weekend on The Flats, hitting .500, including the three-RBI triple to win Game 3 on Sunday and stealing two bases.
• Tech also hit six home runs on the weekend, five of which came in Game 2 on Saturday. Compton had two.
• Tech’s pitching also turned in a fine performance despite Wright State’s comeback bid in Game 1.
• The staff finished two strikeouts away from tying the single-game school record of 19 on Friday night when Chance Huff started and punched out nine.
• Out of the bullpen, Josiah Siegel, Joseph Mannelly, Dawson Brown and Marquis Grissom, Jr. all shined.
• Siegel got the winning decision on Saturday with 3.0 hitless innings while Mannelly got Sunday’s with 2.0 one-hit innings. The pair combined for 10 strikeouts on the weekend.
