THE FLATS – Georgia Tech women’s basketball began the 2021-22 season on Tuesday, Sept. 28, holding its first official practice in McCamish Pavilion.

The Yellow Jackets return 10 letterwinners, including its starting five lineup, from a 2020-21 season that culminated in a NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 run – the second in program history. Tech returns its top three leading scorers who averaged in double-figures last season in Lotta-Maj Lahtinen (15.0 points per game), Kierra Fletcher (13.0 ppg) and Lorela Cubaj (12.5 ppg). Cubaj averaged a double-double last season, leading the ACC in rebounding with an 11.5 rebounds per game average.
Tech will be led by seniors Lahtinen and Sarah Bates (Fresno, Calif.) this season on the hardwood. Also returning for the Yellow Jackets are juniors Aixa Wone Aranaz (Pamlona, Spain) and Nerea Hermosa (Vitoria, Spain). A strong core of sophomores return following their freshmen campaigns last season: Loyal McQueen (Florence, S.C.), Anisa Clark (McDonough, Ga.), Avyonce Carter (Norcross, Ga.) and Eylia Love (Kansas City, Kansas).
Joining the Yellow Jackets this season are newcomers Elizabete Bulane (Adazi, Latvia), Carmyn Harrison (Memphis, Tenn.) and transfer Digna Strautmane (Riga, Latvia).
