Complete CoSIDA Academic All-District Teams
THE FLATS – Georgia Tech pole vaulter Brian Hauch and long and triple jumper Bria Matthews have been named to the 2020-21 Academic All-District Track and Field and Cross Country teams selected and announced Thursday by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Matthews, a graduate student from Morrow, Ga., earned All-America status at the 2021 NCAA Track and Field Championships this spring in Eugene, Ore. Matthews garnered first team All-America honors in the women’s triple jump after setting a new personal and school record in the event after leaping for a mark of 13.90m/45′ 7.25″ to take sixth-place overall. She also was women’s field MVP at the ACC Championships after earning silver medals in the long and triple jumps. Matthews has a 3.70 grade-point average in her Master’s degree in electrical and computer engineering. As an undergraduate student, she earned Faculty Honors four times and Dean’s List honors four times in compiling a 3.92 GPA.
Hauch, a junior from Lilburn, Ga., qualified for the NCAA East Regional this spring in the pole vault. He earned a 3.92 GPA in mechanical engineering and has earned Faculty Honors three times.
