Tech Opens ACCs with Run Rule Win

TALLAHASSEE, FLA. – Fueled by five RBI from senior Kaylee Ellebracht and a complete game shutout from junior Morgan Bruce, Georgia Tech softball (31-26) is moving on to the 2019 ACC Softball Championship quarterfinals with a decisive 8-0 five-inning run-rule win over Virginia (22-30) in the opening round on Wednesday afternoon. The win was Tech’s first in the ACC tournament since 2012.

Sophomore Tricia Awald knocks the first home run of the postseason for the Jackets over left field to move the score to 2-0.

In the bottom of the third with the 2-0 lead, Ellebracht smacked a bases clearing three RBI double to left field to plate Cameron Stanford, Ariella Jackson and Drew Puckett and move the score to 5-0.
