Tech Tops First-Place Tar Heels

 CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Georgia Tech softball (21-12, 4-4 ACC) bounced back on Saturday afternoon to even the series against the Tar Heels (16-11, 6-2 ACC) with a 13-5 win on the road. Powered by four home runs from three different bats, junior Brooke Barfield came away with the win in the circle for the Yellow Jackets.

E1 | UNC plates one in the bottom of the first on a single to right center. Tech trails 1-0.

In the top of the second, sophomore Breanna Roper rips one over left field for a three-run home run, plating juniors Drew Puckett and Rebecca Prairie and giving Tech the 5-1 lead.

With the 6-1 lead in the top of the fifth, Roper leads off with a stand-up double to reach base. Senior Katie Krzus knocks Tech’s third homer of the game over center field, scoring Roper and moving the tally to 8-1.

E5 | UNC adds three in the bottom of the fifth to bring it to 9-4.

E6 | The Tar Heels added another run in the bottom of the sixth to make it 9-5.

With the 9-5 lead in the top of the seventh, sophomore Cameron Stanford singled to right center to score Krzus and push the score to 10-5.
