AI 2020 Surpasses $50 Million Mark

With milestone, Georgia Tech has secured more than 40 percent of $125 million fundraising goal

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech athletics has surpassed the $50 million mark in fundraising for Athletics Initiative 2020, director of athletics Todd Stansbury announced on Tuesday. AI 2020 is Georgia Tech athletics’ current $125 million fundraising initiative, which was launched at the beginning of this year and publicly announced in June.

AI 2020 aims to raise the $125 million by Dec. 31, 2020 with three key priorities in mind – recruiting, building a better student-athlete and winning. By surpassing the $50 million mark, Georgia Tech has officially secured more than 40 percent of its $125 million goal.

As part of the $50 million raised, Georgia Tech is very close to reaching its fundraising goals for a full renovation of the Yellow Jackets’ men’s and women’s basketball locker rooms ($4.5 million) and Phase II of renovations at the Jackets’ baseball home, Russ Chandler Stadium ($9 million).

The full needs that AI 2020 will address include:

FACILITIES – $88 Million

  • Edge/Rice Center Renovation – $70 million
  • Russ Chandler Stadium Renovation, Phase II – $9 million
  • Football Locker Room Renovation – $4.5 million – COMPLETE
  • Men’s/Women’s Basketball Locker Rooms Renovation – $4.5 million

ENDOWMENTS – $25 million

CURRENT OPERATIONS – $12 million

  • Athletic Scholarship Fund – $4.5 million
  • Sport-Specific – $4.5 million
  • Athletics Director’s Initiative – $3 million
