DURHAM, N.C. – No. 25 Georgia Tech was limited to five hits and left nine runners on base Wednesday afternoon as No. 2 Miami handed the Yellow Jackets a 4-0 loss at the ACC Baseball Championship.
Georgia Tech (36-21) will face No. 4 seed Florida State in its second pool play game Thursday at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
Freshman Jake Lee (3-3) allowed Miami’s three first-inning runs as the rookie lasted just one-third of an inning. From there, junior southpaw Ben Parr quieted Miami’s offense as “The Vulture” scattered three hits with five strikeouts in 6.2 scoreless innings.

Felt like we had a chance in the sixth inning. I probably took a gamble, and I would probably still take it again on a 3-0 pitch with Tristin English, letting him swing, and I think he flew out or popped up. And then Craport, 2-0, I think popped up again or flew out.
Felt like that was our chance to try to get back in it and then to our credit, we get the tying run to the plate in the ninth inning. It’s hard to score on Miami late. I think Bartow is a really good and Garcia has been a great pitcher in our league for three years running now. HOW IT HAPPENED
• Miami hung a crooked number in the 1st to take a 3-0 lead. After a Carl Chester ground out, Miami drew back-to-back 1-out walks. Brandon Lopez followed with an RBI single up the middle for a 1-0 lead. After another walk loaded the bases, Georgia Tech turned to Ben Parr. Willie Abreu’s infield RBI single and Randy Batista’s RBI sacrifice bunt gave the Hurricanes a 3-0 lead.
• Parr would retire 13 straight Miami batters and keep the Hurricanes hitless until the 6th.
• Tech kept Miami off the scoreboard until the 8th. Zack Collins hit a 1-out solo home run to left-center to give the Hurricanes a 4-0 advantage.
• Georgia Tech had a chance to make some noise in the 9th. Tristin English and Trevor Craport rapped out back-to-back 1-out singles. Two batters later, Keenan Innis drew a 2-out walk to load the bases. Pinch hitter Arden Pabst, however, struck out swinging to end the game.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Georgia Tech turned one more double play, increasing its NCAA-leading total to 74. Tech needs four more to break the school mark of 77 set in 2014.
• Senior LF Matt Gonzalez moved into sole possession of 4th place on Georgia Tech’s all-time list with 291 career hits. Gonzalez was the only Yellow Jacket with more than one hit, going 2-for-3.
• Gonzalez tied former major leaguer Nomar Garciaparra for 6th on Tech’s all-time list with 58 doubles.
• Sophomore DH Kel Johnson snapped his 11-game hit streak, going 0-for-4.
• Junior LHP Ben Parr scattered three hits in a season-high 6.2 scoreless innings. Parr also struck out a season-high-tying five batters.

No. 9 seed Georgia Tech will face No. 4 seed Florida State in the second game of pool play at 3 p.m. Thursday. The game will be broadcast live on FOX Sports South, ESPN3 and WREK 91.1 FM.
