Men's Track Announces Two Early Signees

ATLANTA – Georgia Tech men’s track and field coach Grover Hinsdale announced the signing of E.C. Gibbs and Juan Cave during the early signing period on Wednesday morning. Gibbs hails from Cullman, Ala., while Cave is from Voorhees, N.J.

“We’re excited about what these two young men will bring to the Georgia Tech men’s track program,” said head coach Grover Hinsdale. “They are talented athletes and tremendous students. The coaching staff will continue to recruit student-athletes such as these this spring.”

Gibbs is an Alabama State Champion in the 800 meters and 1600 meters with personal-best times of 1:52.19 and 4:17.2, respectively. A senior at Cullman High School, became a National Junior Champion in the 1500 with a mark of 3:59.00 this summer.

Cave, a senior at St. Joseph’s Preparatory School, garnered all-state honors in Pennsylvania as a junior and won the state title in the high jump for both the indoor and outdoor seasons. Cave finished second at the 2004 Nike Indoor Championships and runner-up at the Penn Relays High School Championships. His top marks are 6’10.75″ (high jump), 21’0″ (long jump) and 16.4 (110 hurdles).
