ATLANTA– – The 33rd-ranked Georgia Tech men’s tennis team fell to No. 19 South Carolina, 5-2, Wednesday at the Sam Daniel Tennis Center in Columbia, S.C.
South Carolina (10-3) claimed an early 1-0 lead by taking two of three doubles matches and then the Gamecocks captured four of the six singles flights.
Tech’s Roger Anderson, ranked 28th nationally in singles, defeated Seth Rose in straight sets, 7-6, 6-0, at the No. 1 flight. Anderson also won in doubles, teaming with David Wright for an 8-0 victory over the 49th-ranked team of Angelo Niculescu and Marcus Westman at No. 1 doubles.
Scott Schnugg also picked up a win for the Yellow Jackets, defeating David Nelson at No. 4 singles.
Tech (8-7) returns to Atlantic Coast Conference play this weekend, playing at NC State Saturday at 1 p.m.
