The Georgia Tech men’s tennis team continued their winning ways with a 7-0 win over Chattanooga Saturday afternoon. With the win the Yellow Jackets improve to 2-0 on the year while the Mocs fall to 1-3.
The Yellow Jackets opened the match sweeping the doubles point as Scott Schnugg and Marko Rajevac defeated Thomas Knizat and Michael Hangstefer, 8-6, at No. 1 doubles, Jason Pieters and Jose Luis Muguruza paired to beat Arturo Navarro and Tim Kutschera, 8-3, at No. 2 and Joao Menano and Trevor McLeod defeated Jerry Murray and Mark Fynn, 8-2 at the No. 3 position.
In singles play, Muguruza defeated Knizat at the No. 1 position, 6-3, 6-3, Schnugg beat Hangstefer 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2 and Pieters swept Alex Mabred, 6-0, 6-1at the No. 3 line. In other singles matches, Nott swept Navarro in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1 at No. 4 while at No. 5 Rajevac defeated Kutschera 6-0, 6-4 and Zachary Rath finished out the afternoon with a straight-set victory over Fynn, 7-5, 6-4.
The Yellow Jackets are in action this afternoon facing Emory in the second match of a doubleheader at the Bill Moore Tennis Center.
